William was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England in about 1815[1].
William married Isabella Jobson on 16th July 1846, reported in the Newcastle Guardian and Tyne Mercury on Saturday 18 July 1846. On the 16th inst. at Sion Meeting House, by the Rev. Geo. Richards, the Rev. Wm. Stead, Independent minister of Embleton, to Miss Isabella Jobson, daughter of the late Mr Jobson, of Boulmer.[2]
