Biography

Richard Stratton was the son of Samuel Stratton and Alice Beebe Stratton.[1]

Baptised: 18 Nov 1627, Podington, Bedfordshire, England[2]

Marriage: Susannah (Susan) about 1657 in Watertown, MA[3]

Died: 25 Jul 1658, Watertown, MA at age 30[3]

Richard Stratton did not come to the American colonies with his father. He sailed later (1656) from Gravesend, Kent, England to join his father in Watertown, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts. Richard was born in England in 1627. He married Susanna ___?___ and they had one son, Samuel Stratton, who was born on April 8, 1658 in Watertown. Richard died in Watertown, Massachusetts on July 25, 1658. His widow married Thomas Dakin of Concord, Massachusetts on June 11, 1660. She died in 1698. ,[4]

Richard Stratton (1627-58) lived only long enough to sire a single son (and we know nothing more of him), but from him the line continues: Samuel (1658-1726), Enoch (1700-55), Samuel (1728-1810), and Ruth (1771-1807), who married Asa Goodrich.[3]

As to Richard's son, Samuel Stratton (1658-1726), three months old at the time of his father's death, a little is said:[5]

His inventory was taken n 28 July 1658 in Watertown.[6]

Stratton-26 and Stratton-1473 appear to represent the same person because: These are definitely the same person, Barbara please merge them.

Stratton-26 and Stratton-1473 are not ready to be merged because: Parentage and ancestors need to be straightened out first, merging now would cause for messy profiling since there are conflicts in who grandmothers are and other ancestors.

This Richard Stratton cannot be the father of

of John Traine since they were both born in 1628. Removed John as Richard's son.
