Biography

Charles Thibodeau is on the Wall of Names at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, Louisiana Plaque 12 Left, La Ville D'Arcangel. Listed with him is his wife Magdelaine Henry and five children: Pierre Charles, Jeanne Tarsile, Marguerite, Helene and Marie Victoire.[1]

Born in France while her parents were in Exile from Acadia.

Marie Victoire Thibodeau was baptized in 1769 at the church of Saint-Antoine in Pleurtuit, Bretagne (today Ille-et-Vilaine), France. She was the daughter of Charles Thibodeau and Madeleine Henry. At the time, the family was in exile from Acadia. She was the youngest of 8 siblings (2 died before she was born).

At age 15, she traveled with her parents and 4 siblings to New Orleans aboard La Ville de Archangel, in 1785.

In 1788, at age 19, she married Joseph Yves Hebert and they settled along Bayou Lafourche. in Bayou Des Ecors (near present day Morganza, LA).
