Gaudet-16 and Achord-20 appear to represent the same person because: This is family

Hi Patricia.

In WikiTree, only duplicates of the same person can be merged. WikiTree is not like other websites where by merging with an ancestor’s profile, you can add his family tree to your own. There is only one global tree in WikiTree, and only one profile for each person. If you merged your profile with Gaudet-16, one of the two would disappear and we don’t want that. If you are interested in Gaudet’s profile, you can always ask to be on his profile’s trusted list by selecting the Privacy tab on the profile and clicking the request link. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This After Adopting Orphans FAQ explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

PS Thanks for your contributions so far! Please do return to the profiles you create to add more biographical details and sources -- this is the best way to create an interesting, accurate, and well-rounded story of your family. The easiest way to find info and sources is to use the handy RootsSearch link on the right side of any profile. Learn more about sources here.

Hi Patricia!

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Take care

Hi Patricia,

You've been a member of WikiTree for about a week so I am checking in to see how it is going.

Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.

I'm here to help with questions about how WikiTree works. Click my name to send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. I'll get back to you by the end of the day.

PS Tags are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag and links to resources. To get the best results, add separate tags for each surname and spelling variation of interest. You can have up to 20 total.

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for volunteering! You are now a full member of the WikiTree community, and can start adding your family. Let me know if you have any questions.

Since WikiTree is different from other genealogy sites, we have a guided tour for new members at New Member How-To. Feel free to work through the How-Tos at your own pace.

Once you add profiles to WikiTree they become searchable and in my experience persons interested in these profiles will contact you and may provide further information to expand your family tree.

Great to have you on board, enjoy, and good luck growing your branches.
