Note: The following is from Kristie Cornett email 03/19/04:
"I believe the link to James and Joseph Thomas is found in two sources: An early Biography states that their father was born in Wales, there is a court record in Kanawha Co in 1819 that is a lawsuit against James Thomas, deceased over a much older Pleasant Thomas estate. I haven't yet found any other records for this Pleasant but I think he could be a brother of the Charles Thomas of Patrick Co. Va, who came from Wales and settled first in Buckingham and later Patrick co. This Charles Thomas also had a son named Pleasant (much too young to be a father to James and Joseph). I think Charles Thomas of Wales is somehow the link. Lots of family names and the Pleasant I am looking for would have been dead before 1819. The court record states that Samuel Shelton was the executer of his will but since all Buckingham co records were destroyed, it's going to be tough finding him. Since James was the Executer of Pleasant Thomas estate, it's likely that he was either their father or their brother."
