Biography

Hello, my name is Michelle and I have been obsessed with my family history since my grandma Connie got me hooked when I was in elementary school. I have some famous people confirmed and not confirmed in my family tree. My favorite is Pocahontas. Family lore has it that the Conner’s of Kanawha County WV are her descendants. The current theory is that Elinor, the wife of Originall Wroe is an illegitimate/unconfirmed daughter of John Bolling. Hopefully the Gloucester County, Virginia’s Descendant’s Initiative will help solve this mystery. Other unconfirmed descendants are Joan of Acre, Charlemagne and the Merovingian Kings (DaVinci Code anyone? LOL).

Some famous confirmed relatives are: William III d’Augigny – 1st cousins 28 times removed Hugh (Bigod) le Bigod – 27th great grandfather Henry (Bohun) de Bohun – 27th great grandfather Gilbert (Clare) de Clare – 1st cousins 27 times removed John (Clavering) FitzRobert – 1st cousins 27 times removed Robert FitzWalter – 25ht great grandfather William (Hungtingfield) de Huntingfield – 1st cousins 28 times removed John (Lacy) de Lacy – 1st cousins 26 times removed William (Lanvallei) de Lanvallay – 1st cousins 27 times removed William Malet – 28th great grandfather Saier (Quincy) de Quincy – 26th great grandfather Robert de Vere – 1st cousins 28 times removed George Washington – 9th cousins 10 times removed Thomas Jefferson – 11th cousins 7 times removed James Madison – 12th cousins 9 times removed John Quincy Adams – 13th cousins 8 times removed William Harrison – 8th cousins 11 times removed John Tyler – 14th cousins 6 times removed Zachary Taylor – 13th cousins 8 times removed Millard Filmore – 6th cousins 6 times removed Franklin Pierce – 13th cousins 7 times removed James Buchanan Jr. – 18th cousins 7 times removed Ulysses S. Hi Michelle,

I noticed your recent addition of a new profile for Parker L. Adkins as son of Charity Adkins.

As you know doubt have seen, there is much controversy about Charity's origins, and we hope that any new changes made to her profile include reliable sources. Do you have a reliable source that Parker L. Adkins was one of her children? Also you'll see that I've proposed a merge for the new profile you created with an already created profile for Parker L. Adkins. The dates are slightly off, and the spellings of his wife's name is slightly different, but the two profiles clearly represent the same individual. The wife and their children will also need merging.

Jillaine,

Thank you for your message. I am aware of the controversy. The Charity Adkins profile lists Parker born around 1799. Additionally, in his marriage records to his second wife, Margarett Wise, it lists his parents as Randolph and Charity Adkins. "West Virginia, County Marriage Records, 1776-1971", database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q2ZX-1ZJ3 : 9 November 2021), Randolph Adkins in entry for Parker Adkins and Margarett Wise, 1870.

Great! Thanks so much for that; if you haven't done so already, I'll go add that to Charity's profile as well (in the list of children). Thanks, Michelle!

Hi

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The United States Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Hi Michelle

Thank you for adding your DNA Test information to your profile on WikiTree. Your information will be propagated to the profiles of your parents and your ancestors within about 24 hours of being added. It will also propagate to the profiles of the descendants of your ancestors, so they may see your information under the heading "DNA Connections" just as you can see theirs.

Getting started with DNA outlines how to proceed to use your DNA test information on WikiTree and DNA is a link to a collection of links about WikiTree's many features involving DNA.

The DNA Connections list on your profile will provide a visual way for you to find potential relatives on WikiTree who have also added their DNA test information. Using DNA tools at sites like GEDMatch.com, if you find a relative that matches your DNA sufficiently and you have genealogical sources for the intermediate relationships, you can mark the specific parental relationships back to the most recent ancestor that you both share as "confirmed with DNA." For details, guidance, and examples of how to properly document DNA confirmations, see DNA confirmation.

To get the best results, continue adding sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to ancestors already in WikiTree. If you have exhausted what you know on one line, it can sometimes help to add what you know on another line. The more branches you are able to add the greater the likelihood of finding potential cousins to match with. The process of identifying which branch elements of DNA relate to will better enable you to find matches that relate to the particular branches you are researching.

Let me know if you have any questions and have fun!
