Polly was born 27 March 1796 in Barnard, Vermont.^[1] She was a daughter of George Townsend and his wife Polly (Richmond) Townsend.^[1][2]

Polly Townsend was married to John Blackmer in Barnard, Vermont, on 7 September 1818.^[3]

She died in Stockbridge, Vermont, on 29 March 1870, at the age of 74 years and two days. The reported cause of her death was consumption.^[2]
