Biography

Jabez Tupper was born on 27 January 1732/3 in Sandwich, Barnstable County, (then) Province of Massachusetts Bay, the son of Samuel and Rebecca (Ellis) Tupper.^[1] He married Esther Jennings in Sandwich on 14 February 1759,^[2] the daughter of Samuel and Deborah Jennings. He was killed while on board an English frigate, being involuntarily detained to navigate the ship. His father-in-law was similarly impressed on an English vessel.^[3]
