Dorothy Tuxbury was born at Amesbury, Massachusetts on August 20, 1739, daughter of David Tuxbury and Ann Worthen. [1]
Dorothy married Thomas Williams at Amesbury on June 8, 1761. [1][2] Her husband Thomas was born at Amesbury, Massachusetts on November 18, 1732, son of Henry Williams and Deborah Davis. [1][2]
Her father Deacon David Tuxbury wrote his will on June 19, 1764, leaving bequests to his four daughters, including Dorothy, wife of Thomas Williams of Amesbury. [3]
Her husband Thomas died prior to November 11, 1786, as on that date, Orlando Sargent, justice of the peace, appointed a committee to appraise the estate of Thomas Williams, yeoman of Amesbury, deceased, who died intestate. [4]
The inventory presented to the court on November 21st, was valued at L354 12s 6d, with L87 12s 6d being personal items, livestock, farm implements and stores. The 48 acre homestead was valued at L264 and a 3 acre lot in Kingston, New Hampshire at L3. Debts owed amounted to L71 18s 10d as presented to the court on April 8, 1789, by Henry Williams who was appointed administrator. [4]
On October 29, 1787, widow Dorothy Williams, Christopher Sargent Esquire and Henry Williams, appeared in court to provide a bond of L 500, in the administration of the estate and her being allowed to be guardian to: [5]

David Williams, minor aged 16 years
Thomas Williams, minor aged more than 14 years
Isaac Williams, minor aged 12 years
Moses Williams, minor aged 10 years
