Lucy Ann Twitchell was born on May 18, 1840, in Milan, New Hampshire, the daughter of Gilman Twitchell and Lucy Harris.[1][2]

She married, in Dummer, New Hampshire, November 20 or 27, 1856, Stephen P. Folsom.[2] They lived in Milan, and had four children:[3]

  1. Alma E., born September 2, 1857; married George O. Bean
  2. Althea Cross, born January 2, 1868; married E. Channing Frost
  3. Nora Bell, born December 18, 1870; married Charles T. Hamlin
  4. Guy Prescott, born March 25, 1876;[4] married Minnie Flagg[5]

Lucy died on April 19, 1928, in Gorham, New Hampshire.[6] She is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, in Milan, New Hampshire.[7]

Her obituary was published in the Lewiston Daily Sun, published in Lewiston, Maine:[8]

Berlin, N. H., April 23.—Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Ann Folsom were held at the home of Nelson Twitchell at Gorham, Saturday afternoon, Rev. A. H. Graham of the Gorham Methodist Episcopal church officiating.

Lucy Folsom was born in Milan, May 18, 1840, was educated in the Milan schools and in 1856 was united in marriage to Stephen P. Folsom. Her entire life was spent in devotion to her family and friends. She was a lady of rare character, ever administering to the needs of others. A splendid type of mother and her four surviving children will sadly miss her loving council.

Mrs. Folsom was a charter member of Emily Flint lodge of Rebekahs of Milan and for a number of years was a faithful worker in the lodge. The brother with whom she lived, Nelson Twitchell, is 91 years old and they were most devoted to each other, to him and the other surviving relatives the sympathy of the community is extended.

Mrs. Folsom is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Alma Mitchell and Mrs. Althea B. Frost and one son, Guy P. Folsom; two sisters Romona [sic] A. Twitchell and Mrs. Viola J. Roberts and two brothers, A. N. Twitchell and Gilman Twitchell.

The many floral offerings bore mute testimony to the esteem felt for the departed one. The burial was in the family lot in Hillcrest cemetery at Milan.
