This profile represents Joanna (Unknown) Winn, the wife of Edward Winn, early immigrant to Woburn, Massachusetts.
Joanna's birth date and birth place are unknown. Her parents and maiden name are also unknown.[1][2]
The birth date, 1607, is an estimate, based on her husband's estimated birth date.
She is sometimes assumed to have been Joanna Sargent, daughter of Richard Sargent and Katherine Stevens, (without evidence, using private websites without appropriate sources).[3][4]
Joanna married, in England, to Edward Winn.
Joanna died on 8 March 1649 at Woburn, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.[5]
Children of Joanna and Edward Winn:[1]
Above are the only known children of Joanna and Edward. Some include the child below (without evidence or citation):
WINN. Edward Winn was of Woburn, 1641 ; made freeman, 1643 ; and taxed in Woburn, in the rate for the country, 8 Sept. 1645. By his wife Joanna, he had, 5 Dec. 1641, a son Increase, which was the first born child recorded in Woburn ; but probably his son Joseph, and his daughters Ann and Elizabeth, had their birth in England before. Joanna, wife of Edward Winn, dying 8 March, 1649, he married a second wife, Sarah Beal, 10 Aug. 1649. And she also dying, 15 March, 1680, he took yet a third wife, Ann, or Hannah, widow of Nicholas Wood, who survived him. apparently, till 1686. He died 5 Sept. 1682. In his Will, made 6 May of that year, he names his son Increase, his son Joseph's daughter Sarah, the three youngest children of his daughter Ann, wife of Moses Cleaveland ; and the three youngest of his daughter Elizabeth, wife of George Polly. His widow likewise made her Will, 9 Sept. 1685, which being proved, 1 Nov. 1686, is an indication that she was then deceased. [Wob. Records of Births, etc. Savage's Geneal. Dict.][7]
Joanna, was attached to Thomas Goodenow-8, but she died in 1649, before Edward Winn, so she wouldn't have remarried to Goodenow. She's been detached from him.
She was also attached to Thomas Willets-182, married in 1671, which was also "difficult" given her death date in 1649. Willets-182 has also been removed as her husband.
