Joan de Vere was the daughter of Robert de Vere, Knt., 5th Earl of Oxford, and Alice de Sanford.[1][2] Her date and place of birth are unknown and are estimated.[3]
Joan married William de Warenne, Knt. of Bromfield, Yale, and Dinas Bran, Denbighshire, Wales,[1] son and heir apparent of Sir John de Warenne, 7th Earl Surrey and Alice de Lusignan, about 10 June 1285 (date of indemnity).[2] They had one son and one daughter:
John de Warenne, Knt., 8th Earl of Surrey, born 30 June 1286, died 29 June 1347, married Joan (or Jeanne) de Bar[2]
Joan died before 23 November 1293. She and her husband, William de Warenne, who "is said to have been ambushed and cruelly slain by his rivals 15 December 1286," are buried before the High Altar at Lewes Priory, Sussex.[2]
