Hello Chris,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

How's everything going?

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hi Chris, I see that you just volunteered and signed our honor code. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically significant ancestors? I see you have surnames for tags. Why don't you stop by the One Name Studies project, to see if there's already a name study for (surname) going on? The current leaders for that are Doug Lockwood and Alison Andrus. They would be happy to get you started.

Let me know if you need any help! We're glad to have you on board!!

I’m so glad you volunteered! You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree. Have a great time getting to know your ancestors! Not sure how to start? Visit How to Use Wikitree for instructions. Our G2G forum is a great way to get to know our community! Join the fun with our Question of the Week:What are some of the ways you have used to get your family interested in genealogy?Someone will check back with you in a couple of days to see how things are going. Meanwhile, enjoy getting to know WikiTree!

Lee :)

Welcome to WikiTree, Chris! Your initial email from us contains helpful links to get you started. Totally FREE, Wikitree is unlike any genealogy site you’ve ever used! It's different as our goal is to have one profile per person; that means we all work together in a BIG collaborative team! Once you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer, fill in your tags and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? Most important - have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest. Once you volunteer and one of our Greeters confirms you, you’ll be on your way! Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here. Lee :)
