Biography

Symen, son of Jurian Westvall and Marretjen Hansen, was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, on 30 September 1663. Witnesses were Grietjen Hendricks and Symen Hansen.^[1] He is listed in the Old Dutch Church Records with the name Symen which may be a misspelling.

The marriage of Simon Westfall to Nelletje Quackenbosch was recorded in the Reformed Dutch Church of Albany, New York on 17 August 1692.^[2]

His wife, known as Nellie, was a daughter of Wouter and Neeltje (Gysbertse) Quackenbush. The couple had 9 children: Maritje Westfall, Jurian Westfall, Gysbert Westfall, Neeltjen Westfall, Geertjen Westfall, Antje Westfall, Lea Westfall, Rachel Westfall, and Wouter Westfall. "Symen and Brothers Johannis and Niclaes were named in a Deed of conveyance in 1696, by the Indians, of Lands in Menissing and Waggackameck".^[3] He died in 1730 Dutchess county, New York.
