Mary was born about the year 1755 to William White and Sophia Davenport White of Culpeper County, VA. When she was a young girl her parents and a large party of extended family moved to Craven County, South Carolina. While there, she married George Hickman in 1772. In 1775, she and George moved with the extended family again, to Burke County, NC. There they owned a farm and raised a large family. According to the census records, there were at least 10 Hickman children. Only the younger children are documented. In 1805, George had died and Mary was about to be remarried. The court appointed a guardian for her minor children, Elizabeth, Thomas, Keziah, and Paris. They chose the children's grandfather, William White. Their son Thomas, age 16, was apprenticed to John Tucker, a blacksmith. Mary's second husband was reportedly a Mr. George Taylor of Wilkes County. As yet, I have not found documentation for this.
The presumed children of George and Mary White Hickman are:
Isaac Hickman> Tennessee
Sarah Hickman, who married John Dowell> Jackson County, TN
Reuben Hickman> Casey County, KY
Joshua Hickman> Franklin County , TN with Thomas White, John Wiseman
Keziah Hickman married Reuben Henson in Burke County 1809> Franklin County , TN with Thomas White, John Wiseman, and Joshua

Elizabeth Hickman
Paris Hickman b. about 1796

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
