Notes

Mary's gravestone was in existence when visited in 1896, with the top of the stone broken. The gravestone is now gone.

Mary was the daughter of Samuel Wilbur, Jr. and Hannah Porter of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Her father and her grandfather, John Porter, were two of the original five purchasers of a large tract of land in the country west of the Narragansett Bay called the Pettaquamscutt Purchase, later to become South Kingstown, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

Portsmouth & Newport County Notes

In 1644, Providence, Portsmouth, and Newport united for their common independence as the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.

'Newport County' was constituted on June 22, 1703, as one of the two original counties of the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. As originally established, Newport County consisted of four towns: Portsmouth, Newport, Jamestown, and New Shoreham.

Ok, so I've linked the child Mary to these parents. We've talked all about it on comments and messages. Another person has posted such on Mary's profile and a source has been given.

Would be great to find a stronger source than a 19th century genealogy for the claim that the wide of Samuel Foreman was the daughter of Samuel Wilbore/Wilbur and Hannah Potter.

Mary Wilbur, wife of Samuel Forman, is named as child of Capt Samuel W and wife Hannah Porter in "A register of the ancestors of Dorr Eugene Felt and Agnes (McNulty) Felt" on ancestry.com
