In 1893 he and his brother George Williams were fishing off the wharf at the local river with their friend Arthur Jacob. Tragically his brother George fell in the water and was drowned; he was only 10 years of age.

At the age of about 28 he married Louisa Lobb (daughter of William Lobb and Elizabeth Jane Henwood) on 20 November 1909 in Moutoa, New Zealand.
They had seven children.
His name was probably published in New Zealand, World War I Army Reserve Rolls (1916-1917).
In the 1919 NZ Electoral Rolls he was living at Union Street, Foxton with his wife Louisa. He was a Farmer.
He died on 6 April 1927 at the age of 44, after a lingering illness. His youngest child was only 7 years of age.
