Biography

Elijah was born in 1854 in Stoke Damerel, Devon the son of Rev John Prue Williams (1813 - 1874) and Margaret Jane (Gilbert) Williams (1814 - 1873).^[1]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Elijah was living in California Cottage, Stoke Damerel, Devon with his parents John and Margaret and his siblings Agnes, John a shoemaker, William, Maria and Margaret.^[2]

1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Elijah was living in Swymbridge Village, Swimbridge, Devon with his parents John and Margaret, and his sister Margaret.^[3]

1881 Census on the 3rd August 1881 Elijah a theological student, was boarding at 7 Ralph's Place, Falmouth Road, Newington, London.^[4]

Elijah married Rosina Ann Simmonds (~1857 - 1936) and the marriage was registered in the 4th quarter 1883 in Stoke Damerel, Devon.^[5]

1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Elijah a pattern maker, was living at 20 Portland Place, Stoke Damerel, Devon with his wife Rosina, and their children Beatrice and Lilian.^[6]

1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 Elijah a pattern maker, was living at 48 Portland Road, Devonport, Devon with his wife Rosina, and their children Beatrice and Lilian.^[7]

1911 Census on the 2nd April 1911 Elijah a pattern maker, was living at 11 Portland Paradise Place. Stoke Damerel, Devon with his wife Rosina, and their children Beatrice and Lilian.^[8]

Elijah died aged 68 on the 6th August 1923 in Devonport, Devon. He had been living at 53 Alcester Street, Devonport, Devon. Probate of his estate £483.12s.2d in London on the 28th August 1923 to his wife Rosina.^[9][10]
