Biography

Ezra Woodworth was a Connecticuter.
1776 Project
Ezra Woodworth served with 4th Connecticut Regiment (1777), Continental Army during the American Revolution.
Daughters of the American Revolution
Ezra Woodworth is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A130112.

The birth date and place are likely for a different Ezra Woodworth, son of Libbeus and Anne, in Lebanon, CT ("[Woodworth], Ezra, s. [Lebbeus & Anne], b. Aug. 25, 1765 1:350 " though the year is different. That Ezra and father Libbeus are found in the 1800 census of Barkhamsted, Litchfield, CT. The earliest certain record of the Ezra of this profile is in 1790 in Dorchester, NH, where he is found with Ebenezer, Jabez, John, and Sylvanus, his presumed brothers. A possible baptism record for him is 11 Aug 1765 in Connecticut Church Records, Columbia, CT, where other records for family members are found. The name in the record is Ezor Woodworth and parents aren't named so it could be for the other. A letter in 1902 from C.F. Mason to the Dept of the Interior, requesting military records, says that Ezra was born 25 Aug 1763 in Essextown, Essex co., Vermont [1], which differs from what we have here. The reply indicated he enlisted at Lebanon, CT, and was 69 years old when he applied 16 Aug 1832.
