Elbert Youmans opened grocery stores for Love and Buck, wholesale grocers, in Screven, Hahira, Alapaha, Valdosta and Tifton. He later went into business for himself and opened a grocery store on Railroad St. in Tifton. He also was a Judge in Tifton. He came to Tifton, Ga. in 1883.
