I wanted to share this family photo of Russell Juno with the community. Location: 331 Atlantic Ave., Algiers, New Orleans, Louisiana. Date: 1961.
I see that this is only the 10th Juno in the community. The Juno family were railroad men and carpenters. They occupied many houses in Algiers Point Historical District of Orleans Louisiana on Atlantic Ave and Pacific Ave over the course of both of the Big Wars and well into the 1970's.
Behind us in the picture is the "SP", short for the Southern Pacific Railroad. Mardi Gras floats could be seen off to the left, heading back to Blaine Kern's warehouse on River road which we would walk to as kids.
These days (as soon as this virus is done) I work right next to Mardi Gras World and can see my old neighborhood across the Mississippi River while eating lunch at the Riverwalk next to the downtown Hilton.
Notice the My Heritage logo in the bottom right corner. They have been letting me colorize old black and white pictures during this crisis for free.
2 days ago I stumbled upon free yearbooks there also. Not sure how long it will last. Got some good pictures from it. And the color program works on them as well.
