Who fathered Willard Joseph Dawson born to Amanda Reece in Ontario, Canada 1869?

Amanda Reece gave birth to Willard (raised as Dawson) in 1869 in Ontario, Canada. She married a James Middaugh in 1871. The next time I was able to find Amanda she was shown living with William Dawson in the 1881 Ontario census. Willard was shown twice in the 1881 census. Willard was shown living with Amanda's parents, Stephen and Sarah Reece, and also with William and Amanda. There were 12 years and one marriage between when Willard was born to Amanda and when she all of a sudden became Mrs. William Dawson raising "their" child Willard.
