Dutch birth records now linked to marriage of parents at WieWasWie

Question

The free Dutch sources website WieWasWie of the Genealogical Bureau is slowly adding links between birth records and the marriage record of the parents in that birth record. This makes completing the family very simple.

Don't speak/understand Dutch? Choose English.

Search? Just enter the full (birth) name and search.

How? This is a research cooperation between the Uni of Rotterdam, CBG and a programmer in Amsterdam.

NL: WieWasWie heeft hun link software geupdate en is nu langzamerhand geboorte aktes aan het koppelen aan de trouw aktes van de ouders. De suggestie lijst rechts van de akte is daardoor veel langer geworden.

Ze lijken begonnen te zijn in Zuid-Holland, maar bij gebrek aan een nieuwsbericht van het CBG is dat wel nog onduidelijk.

Yes I saw that they had a lot of links from the marriages to the birth records and from birth records to the parents marriages.  Even so you should still do your own searches for children, as I they have missed some occasionally.

You are right, Coen. It can never be a substitute for doing your own, independent research. Like a lot of Amsterdam records are unavailable at wiewaswie.

Thank you for your post. I'm new on this site and until now I hadn't heard of WieWasWie. I certainly will check out the site. I speak Dutch. I'm from Belgium and I'm looking for the parents of my great great grandfather on my father's side of the family. Some family members have Dutch (Limburg) roots.

In het Nederlands maar, dat is voor mij ook wel zo makkelijk. Ja, voor Nederlandse genealogie is wiewaswie, met grotendeels landelijke dekking, een primaire bron. Hetzelfde geldt voor openarchieven die ook wat Belgische gegevens schijnt te hebben. En dan hebben we natiuurlijk ook Familysearch nog met heel veel verfilmde Nederlands en Belgische akten en andere gegevens (bijvoorbeeld de Antwerpse immigratie- en emigratie-records).

Succes op WikiTree en aarzel niet om hulp te vragen, hier op G2G bijvoorbeeld met tags belgium of netherlands of dutch_roots. Er zijn vele Belgische en Nederlandse WikiTreers die te hulp zullen schieten!
