Timeline: Only add relevant information or historical facts too?

Good day everyone

I have seen a lot of different ideas for timelines on different Wikitree profiles.

What I was wondering though, do you only add information, for example, birth, baptism, marriage, occupation, etc. or can I add a historical event to a timeline as well?

Say for instance my ancestor was born during the Spanish Flu, do I add that information as well or just his birth date, place, and year?

Thank you in advance

I do.  I add inventions as well.  I did this because I was absolutely blown away by just how many my great grandparents lived through - the plane, the car - even barbed wire!

That is a really nice profile page, Ros! Gives me ideas for some of my ancestors, especially my grandparents.
I would prefer if all the Historical events were on a separate page and a Historical link could be added that would display the relevant historical events between dates chosen if clicked on.  I guess that would have to be done through java script programming.
