Documenting the Roll of Honor for those involved with the attack on the USS Bryant on 16 April 1945.

Question

I've been working on documenting the KIAs, MIAs, and wounded from the attack on the USS Bryant (DD-665) that occurred on 16 April 1945.  I've added profiles for all those that were killed on that day (easier since we know their date of death) but still need to work on the MIAs and those that were wounded (not so easy since their vital dates aren't specifically known).

It would be great if some others could pitch in and do some research into some of the wounded to see if we can create profiles for these individuals.

I suspect all of the MIAs were eventually counted as KIAs in later counts but I've not gotten that far into my research.  If this can be sourced, then these profiles can be added as well.

I’ll look to see if I can find a list of the MIAs. I’m a volunteer with the MIA Recovery Network. I have lists for the European Theater but not the Pacific, but I’ll ask my colleagues if they have a compiled list of the missing. I’m out of town but will check when I return home.

I've added bios and links for the USS Bryant MIA's in the list that you provided, so the Missing and the Killed are all complete.  I also completed one of the wounded, who must have just happened to pop up somewhere while I was researching the others.

I'll work on a profile of a Chief Radioman, Paul McCaleb. I was an RM when I served, so I have a soft spot for other RMs.

Ditto.  There were a large number of RMs killed in this attack due to the proximity of the explosion to the main radio room.  Maybe that's why I feel the necessity of documenting this attack.
