Welcome aboard, Victoria!

If you use the search box with a surname alone you will get a page like this:

https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Delp

You can also use the search box to search for individual names or use the wild card * in the first name field to search for anyone with that surname. Then narrow your results by date or location. The search box can be found at the top of any profile page or find the search page under the Find drop down menu. Give that a try!

Come back here to the forum if you have any questions.

Victoria,

are you referring to Hans Georg Delp ?

I'm shown as connected to him through his VERY uncertain son Peter--but the reality is that his other children may be correct, but Peter will likely eventually be disconnected.

Welcome & I hope you find your well-sourced connection!

Yes I think Peter was shunned do you their religion cause he moved to North Carolina and then Virginia. Thank you so much just trying to connect the dots.
I am also kin to Peter. He is my 5th great grandfather. John Clarr Delp was my grandfather then Levi Hicks Delp then I think creed delp. This was done on ancestry through DNA

That theory has been often stated (but never proven) to explain a lot of the inconsistencies in trying to connect Peter to Hans Georg.

I hope you enjoy working here and am curious to see more about the branch you descend from !smiley

I am kin to the moyers through DNA I notice there are moyers in hans stuff. And they are very distant cousins. So I feel like I'm on the right track
So, would your Creed be Creed Jared Schuler Delph who married Mary Ann Griffith in 1868?
Yes that's my creed
My dates are different though but same names
Cool! I just did a quick scan of Laura's book to find what turned out to be the only Creed listed!
Creed has all kinds of stuff on ancestry. Laura's book?

Oh & I see the the 1868 marriage was to Mary Griffey here

So you are kin to the Delps also?
I don't think he will be disconnected if we have DNA through his wife's family and his family. Somehow it links . He's the only one who moved to Grayson county Virginia and that's where all my family is from. So I'm going to make that connection. He left Pa and I guess was the only one who did, that we know of but I'm going keep searching and figuring this out. He is connected to the shulers and I have that DNA and connection also
Hans delp had a daughter named Catharine Moyer Derstine . She was the half sister of Peter Delp. She was also known as Catharine kulp. So I'm assuming that's was hans step daughter cause it says half sister of Peter delp

Grayson County is also a center for many branches of my tree...unfortunately when I was visiting the Grayson & Ashe NC courthouses & libraries I was focused on many of the other branches and did not spend enough time on the Delp/Delphs.

I'm unsure what is written at ancestry.com as I don't use it. I'm also unsure where the DNA trail will take us.

What I do know is that there are several Delp/h descendants working here, all trying to arrive at substantiated facts.

I know the 'shunned' story has been often repeated, but until someone provides a church document or some other source that corroborates that---it remains just a story.

1990's - present; Laura Moncrief has worked to locate facts about Peter Delp/h's ancestry and has drawn no conclusions so far.

This 2014 article by Brendon S. Burns does a good job of organizing the issues.

2021/2 Research done here by multiple descendants has shown that some of the speculation used to connect Peter to Hans Georg and the Montgomery County Pennsylvania family have proven untenable--the Hechler/Hackler family that interlocks with Peter's children in Grayson Virginia is now known to have been from York County PA and have no reasonable connection to the Delp/hs of Montgomery Co.

The Michael Shuler family may prove to be a more fertile research ground as their migration pattern is relatively consistent with Peter's. Much more research needs to be done......

Yes that's the article linked above...also see his 2015 article

https://vtcrewcat.wordpress.com/2015/01/21/next-page-the-delps-of-north-carolina/

The potential links to Jacob Delp/h may also prove to be fertile grounds.....

i found a connection with johanns delp his wife was barbara moyer. i have 22 connections with moyers through my dna, very distant cousins 5-8th. this maybe the right father and mother. also there is a birth certificate in germany for peter delph, that im going to see if my cousin can get for me.
