Trying to find info on 2 different Ettore DeAngelis (ID# GCLY-Y6P) from Arcevia, Ancona, Marche, Italy.  One was born c1844, d. ?), and the only only records I've found for him are in other relatives death records (1865 to 1908) where he's listed as an Uncle or Nephew.  In those records his occupation is listed as a barber.  The other Ettore DeAngelis (ID# GH32-2WQ), would be a Nephew of the first Ettore who born to Bernardino DeAngelis (ID# GW1J-VVY) & Caterina Antonucci (ID# LY5F-CWC) between 1868-1882?  Other than family story, I can't find any record of him.  Supposedly he became a Priest and may have possibly lived into the 1950s?  I've included the FamilySearch ID's after their name.  I'm not sure if they have WikiTree ID/URL.

You can look here: https://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/search-registry/?lang=es&localita=ancona&s_facet_query=localita_ss%3AArcevia. Italy has more strict laws regarding personal data than other countries, and it's not the same period for every province or even comune (city). Some are up to 1900, others 1910, etc. Plus many records were lost due to the wars and several political reorganization events. I hope this helps!

Thank you...  Yes I have searched Antenati for Arcevia.  Hoping someone might find something I've missed!  Thanks again!

Hi
As Cristina wrote, Antenati is the nearly only source for online records.

What you should do (if not yet done): search for the marriage record of the parents. From there to most recent, search through every year for births of children of that couple. Every year. In 19th century they often had many children and many of them died at early age. You might even find children that got the same first name(s) as a deceased sibling. Search at lest for 30 years from the marriage, to make sure that you find all births of their children (unless you would know one of the parents died earler).
Not all, but most books at Antenati have handwritten indexes at the beginning or at the end.

Thank you.  I have tried searching page by page every year from 1865 to 1900 with no luck in FamilySearch.  Some years seem to have problems with complete records.  I've found 8 children, but haven't found Ettore.  Antenati only has the records for Arcevia (Rocca Contrada, name changed in 1816) for 1808-1814 &  1862-1865.  FamilySearch only has records from 1865 to the 1900s.  I'm pretty sure that Bernardino DeAngelis and Caterina Antonucci were married before 1862 as I can't find any marriage records for them.
Okay, then you could write in Italian to the church of Arcevia and ask for the baptism record and the marriage record of the parents. At least you can narrow down the town, the name of the child and its parents and the possible years :-).
Good idea, thanks!

I have found the death record for the Ettore that was born in 1844!  But I'm still trying to find the birth or death record for the Ettore that was born to Bernardino DeAngelis and Catterina Antonucci Scamosci about 1868-1879.  Family rumor was that he became a priest?  I've looked page by page through birth record in this time period but have come up empty.

Hi Gregory, I looked around the Arcevia records on FamilySearch and, aside from the spotty year coverage, some useful records such as indices are only available as microfilms at family history centers. You could try booking a free 20-minute consultation with one of the FS genealogists and see if they have suggestions for your search. They might even be willing to take a look for you at those microfilm indices. They are not supposed to do that, but I heard that since the pandemic they've been more inclined to bend the rules since many of their centers were closed for a long time. Worth a shot. :)

Another thought… when searching for marriage records, I would expand the search to a few years beyond what you think is likely. In many cases couples were getting married after having a few kids. In fact it's quite common to find a document in the "Allegati di Matrimonio" (marriage banns) called "Prole da legitimizzare" (children to be legitimized), where the couple was legitimizing their offsprings at the same time as getting married.

Good luck with your search!

(Edited to fix a typo)
