DNA research at wikitree

I have seen the draft template for confirmed DNA autosomal test

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/S%C3%A4lg%C3%B6-1#DNA

BUT I feel we also need

A) templates for nonconfirmed DNA test i.e. when I have shared segments but its under 5 cM and we need more people to test to confirm the segment.

B) A way to flag a profile that this profile is part of ongoing DNA genealogy and we are looking for test takers?!?!?

Do give sime structure of my own DNA genealogy I have added in the biography sections called DNA to inform people that this profile is part of my DNA testing and/or is part of a my plan to do tests.

To get a little bit more structure on the progress and tests I have also created a DNA page http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:DNA_test_page_S%C3%A4lg%C3%B6-1 maybe it should be projects?!?!?

Feedback is welcome

Thanks Magnus - I added this to the To-Do list the team recently started to help us keep track of suggestions and... well, to-dos  :)

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/To-Do
I want to spend time thinking about this, including for my own DNA-match tracking purposes, but I'm taking it off the team's to-do list. It's likely the next steps are all things members can do, e.g. templates, projects, free-space pages, etc., as Magnus suggests.

Chris you feel to have some basic understanding of wikitree ;-)

I am in the process starting to understand wikitree. After starting to use categories and the possibility to list profiles with a category I get the following idea/question

Is it a good idea to have a category on different profiles like

[Category:auDNA_confirmed_Sälgö-1]
[Category:auDNA_unconfirmed_Sälgö-1]

or maybe also indicate the chromosome/segment
[Category:auDNA_unconfirmed_Chr9_Sälgö-1]

where Sälgö-1 is my unique Wikitree ID

The User Cases
A) Other users should be able to find an DNA tested user and see what other wikitree people also have this person on the result list

B) A User doing DNA genealogy should be able to mark a DNA tested profile that he has a match with this person but he dont know MRCA most recent common ancestor
==>
[Category:auDNA_unconfirmed_Chr9_Sälgö-1]

Hello Magnus, it appears to me that your auDNA confirmed example in your profile is only for two people.  A triangulated group needs 3 or more people all matching each other on the same segment,

sure but step one is to compare 2 people ;-) I feel using wikitree as a "Dna research plattform" where everyone can see what is confirmed and also what is work in progress is an excellent way of working together and get everyone updated the status and what is needed..... Or is your opinion that such ongoing DNA genealogy should be done outside wikitree.com?
Off topic have you seen https://dnagen.net/ and the tool for cluster ICW at Ftdna.com gives a new dimension
Thanks for sharing DNAgen.  It certainly is cool looking but I'm not yet sure how to use it for confirming ancestry.  I can't seem to see the trees within the forest.

I made the mistake of logging into Family Tree DNA as a group administrator and then trying to run DNAgen on my Family Finder matches.  I could not get it to work.  But when I logged in as just me, It did run.  I should say it is still running (for about 15 minutes now) because my computer is only Core 2 6600 @ 2.4 GHz with 2 GB RAM.

Another one if you have problems with many hits and the font will be small

The concept is to cluster your ICW based on who they have ICW ==> you will see clusters of people that maybe has something in common and in this case they belong to the same part of your family tree......

This is the same idea as looking on what friends you have on Facebook and then look what friends your friends has ===>
you will have groups of FB friends like
- old school friens
- working friends
- family friends

A discussion on FB about the tool https://www.facebook.com/groups/DNATools/permalink/1072110919470114/

Yes you should log in as yourself not a project admin......
I really want to spend some time working on this myself, i.e. how to track non-triangulated matches on WikiTree. I certainly want to use WikiTree for this. I've got a half dozen DNA matches where we can be fairly certain of our common ancestor, but they're not confirmed by a third person so we can't use "Confirmed with DNA" yet.
