Mary White- Mayflower descendant??

Hello fellow wikitree peeps. I was looking at a branch of my family tree I haven't done much research in, simply because it veers off into Scotland and I am not an expert on the Scottish research. However, I did see that Ancestry.com suggested a wife of William Blair to be a Mary White 1732-1792 who was born in Dartmouth, Bristol Mass. I immediately wondered if she could be descended from William and Susanna White. So, I poked around a little bit. I did find this wikitree id for a Mary White who is descended from a Samuel White who comes from Resolved, I believe. The birth location matches the one on the Ancestry tree, but not the parents. This information on wikitree seems to not know what happened to her. I have found that when a person disappears that can show that the person married and moved out of the area.

My supposed ancestor Mary White married a William Blair.

The information on Ancestry says her father was a William White and mother Elizabeth Cadmon. But, honestly, none of the profiles on Ancestry or Geneanet.org have any real sources attached. Anyone interested in Mayflower history/research find this interesting? A possible family member within the first 5 generations located? Anyone want to look into this with me?

I found an "unknown Mary" on Wikitree married to William Blair. There aren't very many sources attached to this unattached branch of the tree. I am hoping I can possibly connect these- if indeed it is correct. It will take some research.

The youngest child of this essentially unsourced family, the son named Jesse, was born in North Carolina, so is unlikely to be the same family that was from Massachusetts.

It’s frustrating trying to clean up sloppy geneology found on other family trees. I always check the sources and look for more. It makes me wonder if someone added her because of a family word of mouth or a family source OR if they found some random source with the last name Blair and attached it without verifying if it is actually the real person/generation.

The Mary White that you have linked in this thread is named in her father, Samuel White's will which was proved on 02 November 1762 when Mary was perhaps about age 12. The Mayflower Families (silver book) which is cited on her profile simply does not have any further information about her as that's the 5th generation and as far as that book goes.

To follow her line, you'd probably want to follow the mother and the other children to see where that takes you. Elizabeth (Jackson) White died in 1776 in Rochester. Perhaps you can find more about Mary in Rochester records.

Hello,

I believe Mary White was also my ancestor. I also have Scottish Blair in my line. Alexander Telfair, my 4x great grandfather,  was the son of, I think, Margaret Blair. His mother's maiden name was Blair, just not sure if Margaret was her name.. I need help connecting William White, Mary's father to the Telfairs.

I'm maybe a little confused, but the Mary White of this post is the daughter of a Samuel White. She had a brother named William. Or are you refering to Mary (Unknown) Blair? If so, you may want to start a new post linked to Mary Blair.
