Is Maria (French) Hotchkiss' mother Esther (Doty) French?

Question

Ancestry.com suggests that the mother of Maria (French) Hotchkiss is Esther (Doty) French. I can't find any records that state this explicitly, only records of number of people in the household by age during 1810-1840. This is the time when Maria would have been born, grown up, and moved to live on her own. I see her on an 1850 census not living with her parents.
Does anyone have any records or information that i can't find with just Ancestry.com? What should i be looking for?
(Ancestry.com suggests Esther (Doty) French is a descendent of the Doty-Doten family, and so Edward Doty from the Mayflower)

Esther is a sixth generation descendant of Edward Doty. There are Mayflower applications in her name at American Ancestors.

Doty genealogy pg. 680 & 737 list the family with one child Olive. And yes she is a mayflower descendant.
