Vietnam Vet Sticker - Error 885: Using Top Level category

I'm uncertain how to fix this 885 error because the info I have on his military service is minimal.

I have this problem on several profiles so if someone could please explain the best way to do this correctly and avoid the 885 error? I've read the help file and the light bulb hasn't come on yet. Thank you.

{{Vietnam War

|branch= US Army

|enddate=8 May 1971

Change US Army to United States Army will clear the suggestion by putting the profile into the [[Category:United States Army, Vietnam War]] which is not a Top Level Category.

If the branch= parameter isn't one that is recognised by the sticker it does default to the highest level. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Template:Vietnam_War shows the accepted parameters for this sticker.

That makes sense, the light bulb just came on. Thank you!
By the way, I read that, and it didn't help.

In the future, if I'm creating another sticker, and I want to see exactly how the categories are written, where do I look them up?

Every sticker would have a Template page that can be found in the category https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Stickers which can be found under the Help option in the drop down menus then going to Templates and then to Stickers. This will show how to use the Templates in an Example Section which will show if a Sticker generates a category or not. Because each Sticker can generate the category different ways there isn't one way to assume it will work.

For the Vietnam sticker for example it splits the end category into three parts. Using the example on the Sticker page of [[Category : 1st Marine Division, United States Marine Corps, Vietnam War]] the |unit= parameter is entered as 1st Marine Division, The |Branch= parameter is entered as United States Marine Corps and the Vietnam War part of the category is generated from the Sticker Name.

For the Roll of Honor sticker on the other hand you would need to use a |Category= parameter that has the full category name such as Killed in Action, United States of America, Vietnam War to generate the right category.

Thank you!

I believe that you should use
branch=United States Army

it should always be below the == Biography == heading and above the == Sources == heading.

I will give it a try, although I don't understand how that is not also a top-level category?
[[Category: United States Army, Vietnam War]] is what is called a mid level category. So profiles can be placed in that category but it is preferred that you use a lower more specific category if known.

[[Category: Vietnam War]] is a top level category that should never have profiles in them. The reasoning is that people would more likely know the overall branch at least for the person whose profile they are making. They wouldn't just know the person served in a war for example without a little more detail.
Thank you.
When you're working on a sticker, how do you know what the correct category would be? How do you look it up? I've never figured that out. When I select a category for a profile it's easy to look upwith the search box, but what about when working on something else?
