On 8 May 2023 Linda (Johnson) Leslie wrote on Rape-23:

[[Rape-188]] and Rape-23 do not represent the same person because: These two Catherines have two different birthdates. They are also born in different states—one in North Carolina and the other in South Carolina. They also have two different death dates. One is dead in 1834; the other dies after 1836. The Revolutionary War pension source provided for Catherine Beaver states that she was still alive in 1836 when she signed a legal document. She also stated in that document that she married Daniel Beaver in 1784. The other Catherine married David Funderburk in 1783 and had quite a number of children. The FindAGrave.com source for Catherine Funderburk states that she was born in 1764 and shows three of her children, born from 1787-1802. The FamilySearch.org source for Catherine Funderburk shows that she was born in 1765. The FamilySearch.org source for Catherine Beaver shows that she was born in 1767 and that her daughter, Mary Beaver, was born in 1800.

Are there any actual documentary sources for either of these women or their husbands?  That would be a start, to attach any actual records which name either one.

There really are none. I did find a doucment on Ancestry.com posted by member JayLatham that names the children of Daniel Beaver and Catherine Rape. With the exception of Nancy (who was their daughter) the names are very similar to the names of the children of Catherine Rape and David Funderburk. One child is definately missing from the document - Able Laney Funderburk-  probably because the person he was named after was very well known in the area and connected to the FUNDERBURKS. https://www.ancestry.com/mediaui-viewer/collection/1030/tree/41377174/person/19617646138/media/ea6fdcdf-c441-442f-b4c7-8ce75f342bb3?_phsrc=GkR9819&usePUBJs=true&galleryindex=3&sort=-created

Because of my DNA matches on Ancestry, I am very confidant that the two Catherines are the same person. The two daughters - Mary Beaver and Mary Frances Funderburk are also just Mary Frances Funderburk. The Funderburk family has her on all their trees. They know of her. So, what if we changed it? It's not like it can't be undone. If there is no check for adding someone like this Mary Beaver- who never existed- why is this such a dead end?

Dates schmates. There is no proof of a marriage between Catherine and Daniel Beaver. There is a vague statement from Catherine about when she recollected she married (doesn't say who she married and who doesn't remember when they got married?)... I'm a DNA match to the descendants of Catherine, her husband David, her daughter Mary Frances AND her daughter Nancy BEAVER. There is nothing in that document where Catherine is asking for Daniel Beaver's pension that says she is still alive. It wasn't approved. She might not have been. She was desperate for that pension money.

On Wikitree my DNA matches show up as Daniel Beaver Knight (Knight-18276) 3.12% My 3rd great grandfather.

Mary Funderburk Faile (Funderburk-94) 1.56% My 4th Great Grandmother.

John THOMAS Knight (Knight-10159) 1.56% My 4th Great grandfather.

William Knight (Knight-10244), Elishiba Ervin Knight (Ervin-743), David Funderburk (Funderburk-95), and Catherine Rape Funderburk (Rape-23) - all 5th great grandparents .78%.

If this doesn't convince someone that Mary Beaver and Catherine Beaver are mistakenly identified on here and should be Mary Funderburk Faile and Catherine Rape Funderburk I don't think there is hope for this site. Someone please make the MERGE!
