RAWK logoIt's come up often that we should do something similar to the WikiTree Challenge for WikiTree members. As a part of our 15th Anniversary celebration this year, we decided to introduce our We Will RAWK You Event.

RAWK stands for Random Acts of WikiTreer Kindness.

We did our first round of RAWK in March and another in June and had some good success for our nominees so here we go for round three!

How it works:

A month before each of these events, we will put out a call in G2G for RAWK nominations (like this one!). This is your opportunity to nominate another WikiTreer to be a potential participant in the We Will RAWK You Event.

After nominations close, The WikiTree Events Committee will randomly pick 5 of the nominated WikiTreers who will then get to be RAWKED.

We also put out a call in G2G for RAWKERS, WikiTreers who would like to help work on the lines of the 5 participants.

On August 1st we will kick off the We Will RAWK You Event. Everyone who signed up to help with research will have one month to see how much they can increase the CC7 numbers for the five nominated WikiTreers.

There are stickers for those who are RAWKED and for the RAWKERS.

Please post your WikiTreer nomination as answer below! Note: Members of the WikiTree Team are not eligible for nomination. The nomination period will end July 26th.

If you would like to volunteer to be a RAWKER, please post an answer here

I think this is such a wonderful idea to help fellow Wikitreers!

I do have one question as I’m curious why only 5? Why not choose up to 10 etc.?

Keep up the good work everyone laugh

We talked about it after the last one and with the number of volunteers we've been getting five has been a good number for them to really be able to zone in on.

I'd like to repeat my spring nomination of Christine Daniels (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Daniels-2254). She regularly leads Canada's Thon teams and is Ontario team leader for the Canada project. She deserves a CC7 count of more than 820!

I nominate Shelley Monson

Ladies, gentemen and others, I nominate the one and only Caroline Verworn! Not only is she one of the top members of the Italy Project, she has worked hard tohelp  make this site what it is. Her hard work and dedication is second to none and she is a very good friend. I may be biased here but can ya blame me?

Her tree has Italian, North Carolina, New Jersey and Austrian roots! Check it out!

Seconded Chris, Caroline fully deserves to be nominated and she’s a member of the England Projectyes

Biased is ok! We all have those special friends who are hard working and just deserve a boost! I love this site

I would like to nominate Kelly Richor for this project. She got me started in Wikitree and has made numerous contributions to Wikitree. She is very active on Wikitree as well as numerous other activities. Although her CC7 score is well over 2000, adding a few more wouldn't hurt at all I'm sure!

I had a feeling you were behind this Ken! You are a true gem. Thank you...because I was picked ...and I'm so excited!

You're my Angel Cousin.

Ha!  Caught red handed!

Well, I figured it was for a good cause heart

I would like to nominate W A Hopkins [Hopkins-12324] for the August RAWKing event.  Although he descends from Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins (and maybe others!), he only has 864 "connections" listed for his WT profile.  He is a very-active WikiTree member with at least one "Wonderful Wikitreer" award last Christmas and many 1,000+ contributions badges since joining WikiTree in Sep 2020.  His up to 7 level connections would be mostly American but there are also Irish & Hungarian connections on his mother's tree.

I'd like to nominate Judy Bramlage for the August RAWKer event.

She has done so much work researching and documenting Alabama plantations and slaves for the Black Heritage Project, it's extraordinary! She also volunteers her time leading "Little Team on the Prairie" as needed.

It's Judy's hope and desire that her Babcock line can be expanded beyond where it stands today by the generous genealogists of Wikitree.

Is there a chance Judy's Babcocks are connected to

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-1058

If so there are many Canadian connections, including one to my DH, and part of my Alton Cemetery Project.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Babcock-8855

The Babcocks are on my Connect a Thon list, though I'm not going to have as much time available as I thought this weekend
No, I'm connected to the line starting with [[Badcock-477|James (Badcock) Babcock (abt.1612-1679)]] and staying in Rhode Island.

My worst brick wall is Nathan Babcock's wife Ruby (Foster) Babcock (Foster-7755) born in 1801. But she is my Mitochondrial line

The other one I have been able to make no progress on is an Eastman wife, Amanda Mariah Smith or Schmidt.

I would like to re nominate [Hopkins-12324 | W A Hopkins] for October.  He still has only 919 7-level connections, is very active and has deep American and European ancestral roots that I believe would bring up many more connections.

Best to all
