I can add a to the profile of Thomas Pretty. This is who I can add:

  • Father Thomas Pretty 1480-1540

These are the sources I am using:

  • 9Q4B-GL2

Should I contact one of the pre-1700 projects or know about any style guidelines before proceeding? Thank you!

Donald, I'm sorry but 8 seemingly random characters has no meaning as a source.  Please provide a proper citation.

HI, Thanks for those words of encouragement. It sort of lets everything out of the bag. Wiki tree in their wisdom change the routine. then makes a big deal and give you PAGES TO READ.
There are two issues here. In order to create a pre-1500 profile you need a pre-1500 badge. And you need to use contemporary or near-contemporary sources. Trees on familysearch, ancestry or Find a Grave are not reliable sources. Parish records, wills and photos of tombs or memorial brasses are good sources.

There isn't enough evidence to say that the Thomas Pretty shown in 1500 is the father of the one whose will was proved in 1583. But you could make Research notes to include that information, which would be useful for further research.
Many thanks Vance, your input is appreciated very much.

from what I have researched I think it is pretty close. BUT it is back to the drawing board as they say.
