Williams parents are known to be a Robert Dickson and his spouse Helen Lawson. Robert & Helen have two children recorded, the earliest baptised in 1795 and William in 1798. This would give an approximate birth date of around 1770. The parish that William was born in is Kilbucho, the same parish as that recorded for the baptism record of Robert. My question really is how do we know which Robert this profile relates too? That which married Elizabeth Chalmers or the one who married Helen Lawson (I haven't found a marriage certificate yet, but Helen is recorded as a Roberts spouse in baptism records). Both the Parish and the dates are a pretty good match, and Roberts father is a William, which would suggest a likely match. Thanks, Ian
