Identifying the parents of Elias Ames

I seek help in identifying the parents of Elias Ames (or Eames) – b. 1762, d. 1825. Two sets of parents have been put forward:  (1) he is the son of Hugh Ames and Sarah (Smith) Ames. The problem here is that Hugh and Sarah had 11 children and all of them except Elias have birth records; so there is no source linking him to these parents; (2) Elias Eames was born in 1762, in Connecticut, to William Eames and Abigail Mabel Eames (born Blackleach/ Blacklock) – see Elias Eames, 1762 - 1825. Not sure about any documentation related to this claim. A find-a-grave profile has a note that says William is the son of John Eames Jr, who is the son of John Eames Sr, who is the son of Thomas Eames.

This is the first question I've asked.  I wrote the question in Word and then pasted it into the question box.  I'm not sure why the first paragraph was generated by the program.

So, my question in English is in the 2nd paragraph.
