Great idea, Pam!  I'll be working on Vicksburg, as my gg/grandfather's younger brother died in that seige.  I'll start with General Benton, who has a CC7 of -- 0.  crying

Thank you Nan for joining the challenge laugh

If possible, I would love to join for Vicksburg as well if I can contribute to any of the CSA officers? I lost family there, and my great great grandfather was captured there and subsequently taken to Elmira. This will be the first challenge I’ve participated in and it’s honestly the first one that I’ve been excited enough to see to take the plunge, although it scares me, to participate in. I would love to take on MG John Bowen, as he’s from my home state with family connections. Thank y’all and God bless!!

Hi Ashley, I've signed you up for John Stevens Bowen (1830-1863) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask, we're a friendly crew. laugh

Thank you for joining the Challenge.

Aww, thank you so very much, Ms. Pam!! I’m so excited for this and I look forward to working with y’all and learning even more!! Y’all have already taught me so much! Y’all are awesome! I pray y’all have a great time in this challenge and that you and your families are all blessed with good health and peace in Christ our Lord!

laugh Glad to have you in the challenge!

General Benton is now connected to the big tree.  I'll continue working on his CC7.
Great job, Nan.

I'm working on the family of General Louis Blenker. I've written him a nice bio (he had none) and added sources to his profile. I've identified his parents, his wife, her parents, three daughters, and a couple of son's-in-law. I'll be adding profiles this weekend. Hopefully a connection will be found.

Thank you David for joining us in our Challenge, I appreciate the support from the Notable Project you've given us. frownlaugh

Phenomenal job on his profile!

I do sincerely appreciate all your help and collaboration. yes

General Blenker was a German immigrant, as was his wife, but he is now connected to the Big Tree through his great-granddaughter's husband's family.
Nice job David!!!

Great Challenge! I am going to work on one of my favorite CW soldiers, Brig. General P. G. T. Beauregard of Louisana, and Wade Hampton of South Carolina.

Many of the generals were distant cousins. It's like if you are a distant cousin of one, you are a distant cousin to several. I have 32 distant cousins on the challenge list. (far more Union than CSA).

I am guessing that is rather common.

It does make it difficult to decide which one to work.

by Dawnmarie Cecora G2G6 Mach 3 (31.0k points)
Thank you for signing up for the challenge.
I've added a several profiles, checked the tracker added the action but I am not seeing any number count.  Am I doing something wrong? I've been working on McDowell-3277
Hi, the Tracker is not working, but I've got a request in for it to be fixed.   At least his CC7 Number is working and shows you have done work on his profile.

Thanks, thought is was user error laugh

Actually it looks like all the Nov challenges are having problems with the Tracker, and the person who fixes these errors is on vacation.
The challenge Tracker has been fixed
Great to hear!  Thanks

I just signed up for Charles Griffin (1825 - 1867), Battle of Chancellorsville. Letrs see how far I can go - wish me luck.

by Kris Shearer G2G6 Mach 1 (14.1k points)

Thank you Kris for signing up for the Challenge smiley

Charles had twp children who died young and his wife remarried after his death but had no more children. Luckily, she had a ton of relatives so I have been able to make connections. Some are even related to me (distantly).  According to the app I now have 8316 CC7 connections for him
Nice job Kris

Now have  signed up for Carl Christian Schurz (1829 - 1906), Schurz-8, Battle of Chancellorsville

This will be another hard one since he immigrated from Prussia (Germany) and had a lot of never married and/or childless children.

How fun to find family to work on. Thank you for joining the challenge.

What a fun exercise! In researching his family, I encountered two notable women (although only one has a Wikipedia article) & kept going until I could get them connected...

Cora E (White) Harris Watson Carey (1843-1911): In the 1870s, Cora E. Watson Carey was an associate editor of the New Orleans Times Democrat and was responsible for editing the children's and women's pages and writing a society column.

Annah Walker (Robinson) Watson (1848-1930): "...an American author, the founding member and president of the Nineteenth Century Club, and a collector of American folklore"[1]

Jeptha is 6 degrees from both Cora (connection) and Annah (connection), through his granddaughter's husband.
