How do I add multiple line captions under a photo on a profile?
in WikiTree Help by Donna Hughes G2G6 Mach 1 (10.1k points)
Do you have an example of what you're wanting?
Photo

Caption 1

Caption 2

Caption 3

So, sort of like the caption I have on a photo on my Granddad's profile?
(Scroll down to the image titled "Britons, And New Australians".)

It looks like your caption is wrapping to create multiple lines. I want mine to be: (profile Bratton-1148)

Photo

Line 1 - Name of people on gravestone

Line 2 - Epitaph on stone

Line 3 - Name and location of cemetery

In your profile Bratton-1148 you have:

{{Image|file=Bratton-1148.jpg
|align=c
|size=l
|caption=Elizabeth (Bratton) Braniff
}}

You can put <br/> tags in the caption to get line breaks. e.g.

{{Image|file=Bratton-1148.jpg
|align=c
|size=l
|caption=Elizabeth (Bratton) Braniff<br/>Date of death
}}

Thank you!

Just FYI there is some ambiguity over whether to use <br> or <br/>

They both produce the same result.

See this general article for a discussion of the difference in HTML. That says that <br/> is somewhat preferred.

But the WikiTree Help page on formatting says to use <br>. However that is contradicted by this other WikiTree Help page on recommended tags which says to use <br />.

In my experience most people on WikiTree seem to use <br/>.

So... I guess you can use either. Personally I always use <br/>

Thank you.

I've tried both. They both work.
My caption does not wrap.  I used <br /> to force the new line - just as Rob suggests, above.
