Should a gedcom add an untrue attribution statement to existing pre 1700 (or any) profile?

A recent gedcom upload added this statement to a profile.

No biography yet.<ref name="ref_0">Profile created by [[name redacted | wikitree member ]] through the import of x.upload to wiki (name of) ged on date, 2023. ''This comment and citation should be deleted after a short biography has been added and primary sources have been cited.''</ref> Can you add information or sources?'' Nothing else was added.

The profile was originally created in 2016(by a well respected but now deceased  member). I'm now PM and  it has  a bio, primary sources and an abstract and link to my  transcription of a 20 page will. There are photos of memorials and places associated with the subject. So neither lacking sources nor  created in 2023.

I know that it was easy to get rid of but I was a bit miffed that a gedcom import  could add such a spurious statement.

It would be useful to have a link to the profile in question.

I'm guessing that maybe the GEDCOM import created a different profile that was then merged into the profile that you are looking at. Could that be the case?

Not adding profile as don't want this to be pointed at person who uploaded the gedcom. To me it's a problem if the system does this.

No merge (I'm still the sole pm),  just this in the change tab (redacted)." Name edited the biography and gedcom for profile (imported data from GEDCOM upload #xxxxxx  for  person xxxx) "
That does seem a bug. GEDCOMpare can both create new profiles and edit existing ones. It seems incorrect for the text "Profile created by ... through the import of ..." to be added in the case where the profile already existed.
Yep, that's my thought.
Helen, can you email me the profile at jamie [at] wikitree.com?
