html <pre> tags not honored

I used the HTML <pre> tag to keep lines from re-flowing in a bio, and when I clicked Preview it looked as I wanted, but when I saved it, the final version seemingly ignored the <pre> tags. The Preview view should match the final appearance.

Style guidelines do not recommend html or css.
Use <br/> at the end of a line, if needed to cause a line break or two of them to create a blank line.
Thanx, yes, but if there are a lot of lines, that takes effort and produces an ugly result.
How is <br /> creating an ugly result?  I have often used it to decent effect.

You can also use a colon to format, but it does cause an indent which may not be what is desired.  (I usually do that when adding a short quote from a newspaper.  For longer quotes I use the <blockquote> tags.)
<br/> works very well, only creates a line break and has no other visible effect.

You copy paste at the end of any line with no effort.

Sorry, not an ugly end result, but an ugly result in the edit window.

If you are trying to indent some lines, adding one or two colons works easily to keep the lines together.  It isn't an 'ugly' edit window and many people know what it does, since it is a common editing tool in Help Page for Editing.  Using html like <pre> is not valid and people do not know what it does.

As Melanie and Linda say, the HTML <pre> tag is not recommended on WikiTree profiles. See

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Recommended_Tags

A corollary is that if it doesn't work, it won't be fixed.

I often use the indent to help with formatting.

:  at the beginning of line one indent.

:: at the beginning of line two indents.

Have a look at the style guide,  took me a while to not auto use html tags in writing bio -   I rather prefer the WikiTree way now.
