My name is Margaret King. My 3rd ggf was Coartlen King born 1766 in New Jersey and died 1826 in Pennsylvania. His wife was Jane Hankins. I have quite a bit of research on Coartlen/Coartland but have not been able to locate parents or siblings. His parents are not William Koenig/King and Mary Cadmus as many claim. I have DAR bible records for that couple that disprove that information. Jane Hankins's father Absalom Hankins is stated to have been born in 1722 in New Jersey and died 1808 in Pennsylvania. Again, I am interested in finding parents, siblings and proof of his wife's name. I have problems with people stating Thomas John Hankins and Mary Clevenger were his parents since they were married in 1728. There were quite a few Hankins in New Jersey in the 1700's and sorting them out is a challenge. I have done quite a bit of research on Absalom and have legal records placing him in Windsor, Middlesex, NJ in mid 1700's and information about his second marriage in Pennsylvania and his probable burial location. The early Hankins and Kings are my primary interest and any information or insights on these two would be very appreciated. I am happy to share my research with others and don't mind finding out if I have made mistakes.
