Profile Problem with Saving

I created Whitten-3037 in full with sources on 16 March 2024. She was attached to her parents AND spouse. Today, I found that her profile was created, but missing all the biography and sources that I added on the 16th. As well, I had created and attached her husband Foss-3627. He was NOT attached to Whitten-3037 even though I know I attached him with full biography several days ago. I re-did Whitten-3037 today (24 Mar 2024), then went to re-create Foss-3627 only to find that his profile was completed.

I do not know if there was a saving 'glitch' with WikiTree several days ago. I just want to report this issue and hope that there was no 'saving bug' that occurred.

It's difficult to see as there were duplicates that have been merged
Hi Gill...thanks for your comment. Please see the note that I just posted below Ros' Answer.

From what I can see, Olive's profile had all its sources etc on 22 March.  You say you redid the profile today (24 March) - but there is no record of this, and anyway, today isn't the 24th.  That doesn't happen until Sunday. ?

You created Olive and her husband on 19th, rather than 16th.  All his info is already there - because you put it there.
Hi Ros, I meant to say that I redid all of her profile TODAY the 22nd of March (not the 24th because that is 2 days away). I was really rattled when I saw her profile that I created and completed fully (Biography, sources, children, connected to spouse) on the 19th only to find NOTHING on her profile today (the 22nd).

So...I recreated her entire profile this morning. When I went to add her spouse, he was already created (because I created him and attached him the same day that I created Olive...the 19th). So, I attached him to Olive's NEW profile only to find that I had to MERGE her husband because there were duplicates!

I think we have gremlins in the house! Or...I need to go back to working on the Baldwins of Bucks.

Thank you, Ros, for your feedback and help!

Carol,

Looking at your Contributions Log, the first transactions on Mar 19 show that you created 2 profiles for Olive, one right after the other, as a child of her parents. You updated the 2nd profile with all the information. Then, you created her spouse profile from that 2nd profile and edited his profile.

Today you updated that initial profile, probably without realizing that there were 2 profiles for her. Her husband was linked to the 2nd profile you had created and edited.

Now that you merged the profiles together, your profile should have all the information and nothing seems to be duplicated.

I wonder if this could be related to the occasional duplicate-on-creation bug?
duplicate profiles were created 3 minutes apart, not in the same minute, which I would think a 'bug' would happen.
Hi Linda and Melanie,

I know for a fact that I created Olive Whitten on the 19th in full with sources. I also know that I created her husband Edward Foss on the same day. This morning, I was checking ALL the children of Elisha and Elizabeth (Jeffers) Whitten as I am completing the last child, Mary Elizabeth (Whitten) Lamb, then doing some work on Ezekiel Richardson, then returning to the Baldwins of Buckinghamshire.

I was gobsmacked this morning when I saw Olive Whitten with NO profile and just an underlined source that read
'birth record'! No children, no husband, no inline sources, and no acknowledgement before I orphan them. (I complete these, add an acknowledgment so if there is a concern they know who to contact). So...I redid Olive, then added her spouse because he was NOT attached. I finished him and darn if there weren't TWO Edward Foss profiles linked to Olive! So I merged the two Edwards.

I have no doubt that these two profile problems were due to gremlins! I know for a fact that I created Olive and Edward a couple of days ago and don't end until the profiles are fully done! It had to be a bug of some sort.

I can tell you that I have had problems with FamilySearch a great deal of the time this week as well.

I can only hope I don't have this problem with the Bucks Baldwins. They drive me crazy as they are a real 'craptangle' as Jo Fitz Henry says.

Thank you both!

I also want to thank Ros and Gill as well!
I've found a duplicate profile pair and merged them this week, the time stamps were close together. I had a run of this some time ago (before the upgrades) and what was happening was that Wikitree was saving a new profile, bur rather than going to the new profile page, it was staying on the data entry page so thinking it had not saved, I would click save again creating a 2nd profile usually one profile ID number higher that the first.
I wonder if a glitch like this might have caused Carol's problem, however this would only be the case if sources are added after the save profile step, if Carol adds sources before saving a new profile it would be a different issue.

I had this happen this morning with a profile I created this morning. After creation, I made some formatting changes and did some edits. A little while later, I clicked on the profile to copy some text from it to another new profile and it "seemed" like none of the edits I had made were there. But when I clicked on edit, the edits were there. I went back to the profile page which was still bare of the edits. So then I clicked on my browser's refresh button, and the edits were there in the display of the profile. I've never had that happen before. Very strange.
