In my CC7 there were many profiles deleted!?

Example:

Profile -54 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]
Profile -53 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]
Profile -31 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]
Profile -26 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]
Profile -20 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]
Profile Coy-1587 (deleted from WikiTree) [6]

Why would this happen?

How do I find out who they were?

Looks like Coy-1587 was not really deleted but was merged with another profile (Coy-310).

As for the others, I am merely guessing, but maybe they were profiles of living individuals deleted when a WikiTree member's account was closed.

The reporting you saw might not be quite correct. It is difficult for me to say without seeing what was returned in the API when we queried WT about your CC7. However, once I am able to try and investigate, I will try and find out.

However, let me explain why you are seeing those. Each time you click that Find/CC7 Changes button, the WBE obtains a list of all the current profile IDs in your CC7 and compares it with the list it obtained the last time you clicked the button and collects the differences. The assumption is that WT will only return ids of public profiles, or ones for which you are on the trusted list. In order to tell you who those people are, it then asks WT for the profile details of each id "in the difference". It does the latter in groups of 100 ids at a time. If WT does not return profile details for any of the requested ids, we assume it has been deleted from WT. The fact that you are seeing negative id numbers is unexpected, because, in the past, those were placeholders for private profiles, but that is no longer supposed to happen.

How long ago did you last do a Find/CC7 Changes?  Could it be that the last time you checked was a few months ago, before the negative placeholders were removed (I can't remember exactly what then happened)? That would explain what you are seeing as far as the negative number are concerned.

As for the merged profile, I thought the API query we are doing for profile details would automatically follow the redirect of a merge, but perhaps we made a mistake in the parameters. I will investigate next week, once I am back home.

Hi Riel
I noticed CC7 changes was working again, and I've seen the same message, but CC7 Changes is also showing over 3000 recent deleted CC7 connections for me since it started working again, which includes all my CC1 connections I recognise a lot of CC2 eg uncles and CC3 etc.
I think you still have a bug. I hadn't notified it yet as I'm moving house at the moment. Apologies for using a plain "e" in your name, I've forgotten how to do the correct version.

Thanks Gary, yes I can confirm that there certainly still is at least one bug w.r.t. removed profiles. I have just corralled a manifestation of one and hope I can determine the root cause and extinguish it. smiley (And no problem about the ë, I am used to it being missing in the English world.)

I have corrected the bug that reported merged profiles as being deleted from WikiTree. For now, if profile A, that was in your CC7, gets merged with profile B that wasn't, you will see 2 changes listed: removal of profile A and addition of profile B. It might look like it is the same profile (and when you open them it will be), but the 2 links will actually be to two different WikiTree IDs. If both profiles were already in your CC7, then profile A will be shown as deleted. In the future I might still make the effort to not display a merged profile as a CC7 change, but right now it is just too much effort (while I have other things to do).

As for the negative ids - I don't understand that yet (and have not been able to reproduce it) and am hoping it can be explained away by what I mentioned earlier re the placeholders.
