Historic Location Categories in Pennsylvania Don't Exist?

In reworking and resourcing the profile of John Baskins, one of the first pioneers in what was then Paxton Township of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania it seems that the historic townships and related counties don't exist in WikiTree. This part of Lancaster County later became Dauphin County and though Dauphin County presently shows upper, middle and lower Paxton townships, the research I am reading says what was this part of Paxton Township of Lancaster became Reed Township of Dauphin (the author was faculty at Washington & Jefferson College in the 20th Century).

Should these historic townships in parts of counties which were re-drawn be created? If they existed it would be a significant help to studying what other families were in the same locations at the same time.

How should the creation of these extinct or renamed townships be structured and where are they placed in the counties structure?
