I cannot find the battalion/regiment for this veteran. He survived the war and went on to have  9 daughters before he had a son. 16 children in all.

I'm hoping a WikiTree Civil War maven with Fold3 access can improve the profile for John Fails.

John S Failes, Hurt's Battery, Alabama Light Artillery.  Found his CMSR. I will add a transcript to his profile.
Well done, Norman.
Pvt Failes spent the duration of the War in Hurt's Battery. Enlisted in 1861. Surrendered at Appomattox Court House.
Thank you Norman.  I knew you would come through like the champ you are!
