You could start by finding sources for the unsourced information. Once that has been found the unmerged match can be removed and they can be merged, assuming there are no conflicts.
This is a good example of a proposed merge that should have been left as a proposed merge until somebody was ready to do the merge.  Instead, it was set as an unmerged match and that effectively added six months to get the merge done.  Perhaps when it gets to the default stage somebody else jumps in and sets it as an unmerged match.  Then it would be back to square one.
If the proposer provides sufficient information in the merge proposal, that shouldn't have to happen.
Tom Thanks!  Finally, a voice or reasoning.  By all means, like if the LNAB is wrong one profile you do not merge it together with the Correct one.  One should be very careful to look closely at everything on both profiles.  Just because, there is a wrong LNAB on a smaller numbered profile does not make it correct, therefore, for instance, a surname of Beeby and a surname of Beebe should not be merged together!  Especially, if, the Beebe on the profile has documentation or sources on that profile and every member of their family has it.  Verses Beeby profile has no documentation or sources.  Note: just because a few people called them by the name of Beeby does not mean that is there true LNAB.  Find sources for the name Beeby and I don't mean just the one person.  If, by merging them you are going to change the whole family ancestor's from Beebe to Beeby Stop!  If, there father was a Beebe than so are they unless they had a name change.  I have had many people merge the two together just because there name was written down wrong does not mean there name changed.  I have posted countless messages to those who want to change the name telling them to look closely, (in the same document) because, you can find the name spelled 2 to 4 different ways.  When I started on WikiTree there were only 69 Beeby's listed.  Don't know how many there are now for either spelling there were over a thousand Beebe's when I checked last.  WikiTree member's keep merging the Beebe's into Beeby's.  The Beebe family [did not originate out of the Parish of Exton in England].  Nor, did the Beebe children some how Recently end up with the Surname of: Stratton, Straton, or Stalham, but they are being merged into them. Duplicated into them.  Over 400 year's of Beebe's are being changed into Beeby's or some other name.

Can someone help with this [huge problem]?  What if anything can be done to stop this nonsense?  I have tried everything I can do to stop this but there are some who are trying to force me into changing my family of Beebe's into Beeby.  The person who is trying so hard to do this shall remain nameless but, she is a Ranger.  She says, she understands but go merge them and let each PM find there sources and make the corrections their self.  Yes, I have posted messages to each of them but, I either hear nothing from them or [they keep posting on my profile page either just do it or, Why haven't you merged the family together it has been two month's].  No, I'm not mad or angry.  Sorry, if this sounds like I am.    So, how can I go to a Mentor and discuss this without hurting there good name or making the Ranger's and Mentor's mad. It is not just her there are many other's as well working together [NOW] to change my whole family into Beeby's.  No, don't see this happening.  From the very beginning of my Family History to this day and time the name keeps being changed.  This has been going on for well over (two) to six months.      Signed...  Please, HELP!...help!...help!   Like Tom said, Merges and Unmerged (Matche's) Can Be Made If, There Are NO Conflicts.  Thanks, Barbara Jean (Beebe) Duren.

Barbara Jean,

  1. Add solid sources to the profiles that demonstrate and support the spelling of the last name at birth. That's the best way to fight inaccurate changing of last names.
  2. Rangers are human. They are also subject to the same rules and policies as everyone else. Use the "Problems with Members" process (found on the help pages) to report a problem you're having.
Good luck.

Cindy,

Just clarifying Tom's comment: once sources have been added, you can remove the merge by re-proposing it. A message will come up that says the two profiles are marked as unmerged matches. On that same screen is the option to remove that unmerged match. Do that. On the next screen you have the option to re- propose the merge again. Be sure to include sufficient info in the explanation box that explains how you resolved the initial reason for the unmerged match.
