Jane Ritchie was the wife of David Black, whose parents were John Black and Margaret Duff and she was the mother of my ancestor, Mary Black, who was born in St. Vigeans, Angus, Scotland. I'm trying to find out who her parents were, though.

She was born in 1790, actually, in St. Vigeans, Angus, Scotland. Her husband, David Black was born about 1775. Their great-great-grandson, James Duff Laird was named after David Black's maternal grandfather, James Duff.
It's possible that her name could have been spelled as "Jean", although one of her descendants was named Jane Ritchie Laird. :)
The Jane Ritchie who was born about 1780 sounds close enough. If she was born in 1790 and married in 1801, she would have been 11 years old, which is too young for anyone to marry. I think she named her son, Robert Black, after her father, Robert Ritchie. I think the first Jane Ritchie is possible. :) Thank you, Trish.
