Good Week End to All,

It has been a productive week on Wikitree sourcing, etc.

I love this time of the year ....  flowers are in their full glory,  Hummingbirds are buzzing around and the days are long.

I spend a lot of time outside enjoying the wonder of it all.

Hi Doug

Some of you probably know a little about me, my name is Trish, recently became a grandmother to a lovely grandson.

1. Projects - ONS - Merrilees, Merrylees etc - absolutely loving it.

2. Weather - fantastic in sunny South Wales, UK

3. Interests - graves - yes I'm on Find A Grave - contributed over 9000 photographs and about 16,000 memorials http://findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=48804357

4. Other interests, travel, exploring, curious about different cultures, hence visited over 50+ countries.

5. Became interested in genealogy from hearing various stories about the family and wanted to find out more to confirm or dismiss some of these stories.

Whoops - what I love about WikiTree - one huge family tree.

I had an interesting but expected experience this week on Wikitree.  My eyes are not the greatest (I probably have cataracts which need looked at.)  Anyway I'd been having trouble reading the material on my computer screen.  Then I remembered it's often possible to change the font size.by holding down the CTL key and rolling the ball on your mouse.  So I tried it on Wikitree and it works (some web sites don't allow it) and so now it's much more pleasant to read  posts.  So I posted it as a "question" and a number of people thanked me as they didn't know it.  I'd expected that even though probably the vast majority of people already knew it.  The take-away is that if you learn something new on wikitree there are probably lots of people here who don't know it yet, so share it in an interesting way here on G2G.  Which brings up a second example of the same sort of things.  Sometimes people want to share but are afraid that it's old news on G2G.  Well once you've started a question a few links to previous related questions will appear in the nascent question and you can see if any apparent duplicates really are before you post it and if they are you can change your question to make it fresh.  Now sometimes you want to see what was said before but don't want to lose what you've written so far so you can bring up a potential duplicate without overwriting you question by holding down Cntl and then clicking on the link which brings the old question up in a new tab.  This also works for profiles, etc.  Someone pointed this out to me a few days ago and I'd totally forgotten it although I think I'd used it before.  So let us know your handy tips to teach us or remind us.

Still plugging away at my son in laws family that I found on here, making progress but it is slow because most of the profiles are unsourced and have very little information in them. I planted some lettuce in a container a few weeks back and last night I served my girlfriend her first ever salad cut fresh from the garden, she enjoyed it, and the best part was that three of the "plants" were started from the "waste" end of store bought Hearts of Romaine lettuce. If you clean up the end and keep the soil very moist they will take root and grow again!

My weekend will be mostly sitting on my deck and watching the colorful wild birds fly by, we get a lot of Blue Jays, Cardinals, and even some wild Canary's.

I broke my lawn mower Wednesday and have been worried about cutting my grass next week but I had someone offer me a working mower for free today and I always say "For free take, for buy waste time!" so I took it. It is a nice self propelled mower that has a bagging attachment or could be set up as a mulching mower.

Top of the day to everybody :) . 100 Degrees yesterday, 100 Deg. today. My 81' GMC truck brake warning light came on yesterday, pedal keeps fading. OEM calls for DOT#3 Brake fluid & to change it out every 100 K miles. Dot #3 is corrosive by nature & absorbs moisture / water into the fluid making it have a lower boiling point.

 I have been using a Turkey Baster to drain the reservoir on occasion when it gets fouled dirty.  Valvoline makes a new DOT #3 & #4 witch is silicone fluid based w/ a much higher boiling point & does not absorb moisture. 

2 Hours on hands & knees to degrease & pressure-wash the front undercarriage, & me lol, now that is is clean & grease / dirt free I won't contaminate the system when I open it :)

R- Front Caliper bleed valve has been stuck for 5 yrs now...., time to change the brake pads, caliper, re-pack the wheel bearings, grease the front end, fix inside rear-view mirror, adjust headlight, put new steering wheel cover on, fix air bags / Air-Ride suspension, adjust carberator again, & then Sierra will be riding like my ole' El Dorado.

I have had Sierra 15 or so years.When I first bought her, I thought she was ugly & had a 1bbl. little 6 4.1 L motor = slow, but she is not slow. Sierra has never broken down on the road. She is still not much to look at. Sierra is fully custom, inside & under. I can work on her, I know her like the back of my R. hand. She gets 27 mpg City & 36 mpg Hwy. I am on my second set of Michelin tires. Sierra has over 350,000 miles now, that's more than many new cars you can buy today. I pay less $ for insurance than anybody I know. She has been payed for since I bought her. LOL, she is a good grocery-getter'. :)

Happy Weekend! Feliz Fin de Semana!

Hot here. Enjoying gardening in evenings after work. Mosquito magnet, however, so I have to get inside before dusk. My adult children have been coming and going all week, so the weekend is doubly relaxing. My new water saving washing machine takes FOREVER, lol, so I have a lot more time between loads. Have even hung out clothes to dry on the good old clothesline. 

As usual, my hubby sees me on WikiTree, rolls his eyes and goes on with his list of Tasks for the Weekend. And some of you may understand... Late night, he says to me, "I don't care if you just found the perfect source for <insert Name here>, you need sleep before work!" I fully admit to being hooked on WikiTree. :)

I am in love with the new, or new to me, Error report from the Database Errors Project.[[Project:Database_Errors]].  I have gone through hundreds and hundreds of records now in just a few days fixing tiny details that I might know, but that would drive someone else nuts. And it was fast! Too wonderful! Love it!!

I am toying with idea of a One Name Study for  the HOSTETLERs (248) / HOCHSTETLER (286) HOSTETTER (261) HOSTETTLER (38) HOCHSTEDLER (19) HOSTELLER (2) HOSTUTLER (2), as of today.
I admit, it feels like a big project to do semi-alone, but then all projects feel that way until started.  We shall see.

Found a reference that added to one of my memories of my grandfather - [[Harrison-9144|Charles Harrison]] talking about his grandfather [[Harrison-9146|William Harrison]] being the only Democrat being elected on a mainly Republican ticket. It seems A Twelve-Month's Tale., The record of 1884 in Cooper County mentioned the fact. 

Of course backup of stories grandfather told always help since he was known to put salt and pepper on stories when he told them.

woo woo technical learning process got favicon to work on 2 of the pages I am working on. One is my page and the other is a friend's business. It is difficult to figure where to put the files when they are layered deeper to the root but I finally got it to work.

A fun weekend so far... cooked a bit for the wife who is recovering well from surgery 2 weeks ago. Have a great weekend all.

Well it has been a good weekend. The wife felt good enough to get out today and we met with a friend for lunch. I hope her healing from surgery continues at this good rate.

Greetings all :)

It's a beautiful day here, albeit cold! So nice to be cozy inside and back on here for the day. I've had a full on week, one daughter in hospital in Peru with food poisoning, and another in hospital here in NZ having her second thyroid storm in 18 months. My daughter in Peru is ok now and partying in Sao Paulo as I write :) I'm so glad she had travel insurance! - she needed it!! My other daughter is home again now, still very sick, but not in critical danger for the time being. Six weeks from now she will be less one thyroid! All the rest of the family is very well, my granddaughter bouncing around the place as I write ~ Life is very good :)

I do have a suggestion as to what could be improved here, and please accept my apologies for being a broken record here, but, please, printer friendly option for profiles! I do not understnad why this option isn't available on wikitree? And I don't understand why when it has been bought up in g2g, beyond lots of people agreeing they would like it too, there is no response from the tech team or management that this will/may or even will never be on the cards. With all the work folk do on profiles and with all the respect paid to wikitree's honor code and standards I do think the least wikitree could do is allow us to be able to print our hard work off in a tidy manner, without all the other stuff all down the sides making it look like a jolly mess.

Please ... can we have a printer friendly option on profiles?

a closer printer friendly is found if you right click on the upper left side of lower section and drag to the blank space off center bottom highlighting the left portion and you can select print and get a more printer friendly version. Hope my description is not to confusing.

Users do deserve a proper printer friendly option for the whole page though, like they have on Wikipedia and many other sites. Doing it the way you said is much better for sure, but you still get a wee bit of unwanted stuff on the page and it isn't quite tidy. With the effort folk go to to make profiles look good it would be nice to be able to print them off still looking good, maintaining structure. Surely it's not that hard to put into place. We give our information freely and share in the dream of a one world tree, how about wikitree allow us the ability to print off our profiles in an attractive manner for our own records too.

It has been a lovely weekend in Virginia.

I have been spending my time cleaning up the profiles on my Watchlist that are left over from my original Gedcom upload. I made the mistake of uploading much too big a file when I started several years ago and there are still many profiles that need my attention. Anyway, it keeps me busy.
