Who else thinks a 'reverse view tree' is a good idea?

What I mean is this. If you look at a tree, you start with one person (on the left) and the tree shows you his/her parents, grandparents etc.

I sometimes wish I could see it the other way around: you start with one person (on the right) and it shows you his/her children, grandchildren, etc.

Who else finds this usefull?

I find it incredibly useful Martyn - but thats why I actually maintain my tree offline (using Family Historian) and upload to WikiTree in batches (gedcoms) rather than trying to maintain it in place here.

There are many sophisticated analysis aids that would be quite onerous to implement in WikiTree that only a relatively small proportion of us would use.

WikiTree is really good and great for collaboration but it's not as sophisticated as many of the off-line solutions.

With my offline tool of choice I can run a query to find everyone alive in 1851 should I need to.  However, I wouldn't expect WikiTree to provide that level of data analysis.

However, if Chris is listening...  8-D...

You can do that on WikiTree profiles.

If you click 'FAMILY TREE' at the top, on an individuals page you will get a line at the top like this:

Quick Links: ancestors Ancestorsequalsahnentafel Printableequalsprintable tree Shareableequalsshareable tree Widgetsequalsfamily tree widgets Family Groupequalsfamily group view Descendantsequalsdescendants Help

And you can pick either Ancestors  or Descendants

Thanks for the tip Chris, but that was not what I meant.
This will give me a list instead of the tree view.
Hi Martyn. The problem is that an upward tree is a lot simpler than a downward one. Everybody has two parents. Everything else is variable. We could do it with Flash or dynamic HTML or something, and probably will eventually, but personally I don't think it will add much value. Maybe that's just me though.
I love the Descendants tree. It clarifies a lineage from the first person of a line. I haven't been able to find that elsewhere--except in the answer below.

Thanks a bunch, Chris!
