More Detailed Sourcing Needed

There is a is little documentation under the change tab of a profile or the daily feed. We are GUILTY OF POOR SOURCIiNG  when all that is said is "Edited the Biography"  When saving changes we have an obligation to our fellow collaborators to clearly identify what was changed.  This often takes more time and require the entry of multiple notifications BUT  it is ESSENTIAL FOR  QUALITY DOCUMENTATION.

I'm not so sure that's really true.  All you have to do is click on the "Edited the biography" and the before and after of the area changed will appear. It may be better to explain why a change was made, but if it's anything very important it should be clear in the sources or research notes.

Hugh your call to create a note on what changes are made when we edit a profile is helpful. Dave is right, we can track what happened by looking at the details of the Change tab. I would prefer to just look at the Change tab history and see notes on the changes.

I document my changes not just for others to see, but because it makes it easier for me when I return to a profile, to remember exactly what work I was doing on it.

Really, it hardly takes any time at all, and at one glance we can see if the change was to add a source, or footnotes, or text, to change a Vital date or to edit the format.

Yes, WikiTree has us covered - and if we don't add notes on the changes, the changes can be seen in the details view. It would just be helpful to type in a few words on what we changed.

WikiTree is a guilt-free zone. We accept that everyone is at different levels of experience and learning. What is easy for one might be harder for another. Any documentation is better than none. I'm always thankful for the work other members of our community do on profiles. And it is ok to ask for a little bit more.
